EGSO Meeting Minutes 30-01-12
Attendees:
Joel Sodano, Michael Amrozowicz, Luke Martin, Chris Jacques, Leeann Barrett, Kate Cove, Joshua Bartlett, Aaron Whitman and Jessy Poole.
Conference Committee:
Chris announced that the search for the conference keynote speaker continues and that the deadline for abstracts will be decided
Social Committee:
Aaron suggested the social events be posted on the EGSO Facebook page, with the help of the EGSO secretary Tony.
On the agenda:
- Regular scheduled happy hours (starting Feb 10, Hillstreet Café at 4).
- Yes! Reading
- Albany Devils Hockey Game: Feb 18 Sat 7 pm $12 per ticket.
- Snow-walk/dog-walk: Saturday Feb 4 or Sunday the 5th. Taking a winter stroll. Walk in the park (contact Aaron)
- Dippikill Retreat: this event will take place on Memorial Day weekend, 25-28 of May. If you are interested in going, you have the option of renting a cabin ($15 per person per day, $45 for the weekend) or a camping spots for $2 a night. There are volleyball courts and grills on sight and free canoes. Contact Jessy Poole for more information.
Kate Cove delivered on behalf of Elaina Frulla regarding the O Albany Fanzine. If you are interested in participating and helping out, send your articles and reviews by the end of the term to Elaina.
Outreach Committee:
Joel Sodano announced the committee will meet to discuss the Spring event: Books for Prisoners.
The committee is also considering organizing a Community Writing Center event. Services will include periodic workshops, resume writing, torturing underserved elements of community
GSO:
There is an opening within the GSO eborad MCAA Chair.
Luke Martin calls for suggestions for events in the Spring to add to the budget.
Americanist Group:
The group will organize a faculty roundtable. The time will be announced late March or early April.
USC:
The Initiative in Teaching is calling for nominations from EGSO members.
EGSO is looking for a president for GAC Graduate Advisor Committee Interim representative.
