EGSO Meeting Minutes 10/29
The next EGSO meeting will take place on Friday, November 12th, in Humanities 290 at 2:00 PM.
Tasks to Be Completed
Sara Alotaibi needs to take a hardcopy of the flier promoting the EGSO Canned Food and Coat Drive to the GSO office.
Joel Soadno needs to email Etopia to verify that the online journal will publish select papers from last year’s EGSO conference.
The Outreach Committee needs to announce the culminating party by way of the GSO listserv and by placing a flier in the GSO office and fliers around campus.

Announcement 2:10-2:30
On Wednesday, November 3rd, the Graduate Advisory Committee will hold an open meeting with graduate students at 2:00 PM in Humanities 290. Students can raise questions about the program and voice concerns or criticisms they have about the program.
Joel Sodano thinks Etopia has agreed to publish select papers from last year’s EGSO conference. He has replied to their request for an image that would be posted as the online title-page and is waiting for final approval of the project.
Luke Martin announced that UAS granted the EGSO $500 toward next year’s conference. This is the first year the EGSO has applied to UAS for conference funding.
Sara Alotaibi reported that the English department will continue to award money for conference and travel funding. However, there are new guidelines to receive reimbursement. For more information see Brenda Miller’s email that went out on Wednesday, October 20th, with the subject header “Departmental Funding for Graduate Student Conference Travel.”
Aaron Whitman announced reserving Humanities 354 for the culminating party of the Canned Food and Coat Drive. The party will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on December 6th. In the future, reserving the Alumni House costs $125 for a half-day and $200 for a full-day.
Committee Updates 2:30-2:45
The Outreach Committee reported having barrels ready for the Coat and Canned Food Drive and having distributed fliers in English department mailboxes and around campus.
The Conference Committee announced that University Hall is not an option for this year’s conference. The Conference Committee will discuss possible locations for the conference on Monday, November 1st, at 2:00 PM in Humanities.
